Foursquare Tips

  • Baked potato comes with the lazy susan of condiments!
  • Seriously the best chicken fried steak I've had. Flawless batter, tender meat. Unfortunately, the cream gravy has zero flavor (no pepper), which killed the meal. Check out Hickory Hollow for good CFS.
  • It's old school service with old school waitstaff. While its name deals in smoked meats, the real treasure here is the fried chicken. [Eater 38 Member]
  • The Barbecue Inn opened in 1946. Its still operated by the same family. Other than the prices, little has changed by the look of the original menu on the wall.
  • Ask for Lilly...she has been there 33 years....she is a hoot....also ask her the difference between male and female shrimp!!!
  • It may be called the Barbecue Inn, but all the locals at this old-time Houston diner know that the fried-to-orderchicken--which comes out piping hot and somehow almost greaseless-is the thing to get.
  • Everything!!!
  • Salads are great!
  • There chicken fried chicken are soooo good .. Gotta try it..
  • Grew up going here. The hamburgers are some of the best!!! And the fried chicken is SOOOO good (but it takes a while, so don't fill up on crackers and butter!)!!
  • Their 1000 Island Dressing is homemade and to die for!!!!
  • People don't eat BBQ here....It's all about fried. Chicken fried chicken takes 20 minutes....but totally worth it. Also chicken fried steak, fried shrimp and fried oysters rock!
  • Try anything fried, you will not be disappointed. Hamburger are good too. My favorite is the chicken fried chicken beast with their awesome cream gravy.
  • Fried chicken
  • One of our favorite places. The fried chicken and fried shrimp fishes are the best.
  • Looks pretty goid!
  • Fried chicken
  • Fried chicken is awesome. Been coming here since the 80's
  • Usually a very nice experience, but today was the worst service ever over the past many years of eating here.
  • Grant Gordon, chef of Tony's, eats here on his nights off. He loves the Southern fried chicken.
