Apple Crumble with Maple Syrup

Ingredients:

6 apples, pink lady
3/4 cup brown sugar 
1/3 flour
1/3 cup almond paste, crumbled
3 Tbsp candied ginger
1 tsp chipotle chili powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 stick butter
1/4 cup maple syrup

Method:

Core, peel apples. Slice across 1/4 inch thick. Mix with 1/2 cup brown sugar, chili powder salt, ginger and 1/4 slice of butter. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Add maple syrup.

Then mix the flour, cold butter coarsely. Then add almond paste and 1/4 cup  brown sugar. Sprinkle evenly over apples and bake at 350 degrees F oven for about 45 minutes or until the apples are tender.

When buying apples, they should be firm, free of bruises, and heavy for their size.

Don’t throw out your overripe fruit – instead blend into a smoothie or salad dressing, add to muffin batter, bake into a cobbler, or boil down with sugar and a little lemon juice to make jam.
