Foursquare Tips

  • Guy Fieri checked out this neighborhood icon serving classic eggs benedict, pancakes and French toast on an episode of Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives.
  • Try the "Jose"!
  • Literally the best pancakes I have ever eaten in any restaurant anywhere.
  • Best Pancakes: Old School 2012: Walnut blueberry cakes (yes, worth the wait) http://bit.ly/V5uoHq
  • Best corned beef hash I've ever had!
  • Be patient. Don't try to sit before your turn. If in a group come all together or don't expect to be seated together. House speialty is the Jose!
  • If the line is out the door.. It's worth the wait even during a snowstorm
  • Voted Best Pancakes by City Pages in 2011! This 10 ft wide Dinkytown diner, boasting only 14 seats, makes breakfast an experience, not just a meal.
  • A must for any trip to Minneapolis! Blueberry pancakes are amazing!
  • Best breakfast! Old timey and way tiny but a Minneapolis must.
  • Coffee, more coffee, and empty pop bottles from the Soviet Union! find something unique onthe shelf. buy a breakfast book, visit often
  • whole wheat wally blues!
  • Arrive early. Line up behind someone who's almost done. Come hungry. Enjoy the taste of those hash browns for the rest of the day!
  • If you can leave your coat in the car - do so. The space gets cramped when filled with winter coats.
  • The pancakes are extraordinary: plate-sized, thin, and chewy, with a good measure of buttermilk, and blueberries or giant blackberries can be added. Don't skip the eggs benedict, either.
  • There might be a million joints that flip flapjacks in this town, but you're not truly a Minneapolitan until you've eaten the ones at Al's Breakfast in Dinkytown.
  • Cute little spot! Great summer special.
  • Grab the blueberry pancakes -- they're legitimately second to none and the ambiance alone is worth the modest price of your check.
  • It's always a Jose and a short stack for me. Best breakfast in America!
  • Best to come in small groups. Anything over 3 gets unmanageable. The blueberry pancakes are famous but I prefer the corn ones. Definitely get bacon. Put syrup on everything.
