Foursquare Tips

  • In an era in which gas or electric cookers have sullied the world of BBQ, owner Keith Allens one of the last guys who splits wood, fires it up, lets it burn down to embers and smoke roasts.
  • Pulled pork carolina style. The best in town too. Get a plate along with hush puppies and sweet tea to keep you full for hours. Southern hospitality there is wonderful.
  • I usually go for the BBQ sandwich over the plate because you get just as much BBQ for a few dollars cheaper.
  • Barbecue doesn't get more traditional than the wood-smoked pork sandwiches served at this green cinder block restaurant.
  • If you are in Chapel Hill and want authentic North Carolina style BarBQue, and some of the best homemade southern pies, you need to visit Allen & Son's. It's ten minutes from downtown Chapel Hill
  • Hushpuppies are excellent.
  • The BBQ pork plate is a top regional dish. I would also argue their coleslaw is, too.
  • Just old fashioned goodness
  • My favorite BBQ restaurant in North Carolina. Get the BBQ platter, and if you're starving, get the extra BBQ. Oh, and make sure to try the pie
  • BBQ is awesome, but don't forget the onion rings!
  • Maybe it's just because I'm a Yankee with an uneducated palette, but these are the best hush puppies I've ever tasted. Perfect. Slaw is spicy and peppery, and the pulled pork is to die for.
  • Peanut butter pie is crack.
  • This is the real deal. Superb!
  • good country bbq around local.
  • Stop looking! This is simply the best there is. Wonderful North Carolina BBQ cooked over hickory wood. Get it while you can. Few places do it right, the old-fashioned way.
  • BBQ is king
  • Fantastic pulled pork sandwich! Coleslaw on top. The hush puppies and fried okra were a perfect compliment to this NC staple. Get here.
  • Great wood cooked BBQ,old restaurant with old style BBQ cooked the old fashioned way over hickory wood coals out back. These places are hard to find. If you get a chance you should try it.
  • Eastern Carolina BBQ with the world's best hush puppies.
  • One of my goto BBQ places when in Chapel Hill.
