we have had haloumi at Martins Foods for several years now, so new where? not for everyone, obviously. it's delicious, and was originally set aside the fire to warm and brown before being eaten, so 'grilling' ain't really new either.
I learned to enjoy this cheese over 30 years ago in Cyprus. It is great grilled of pan fried -- great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner--excellent complement to kabobs.
A grilled cheese isn’t new but this type is. Serve this popular white cheese on a grilled baguette with some fresh mint as a perfect snack or appetizer. You could also try it with a square of feta cheese. But we haven’t tried that one yet, so let us know how it goes!
