7 Fall Fruit Recipes

After a summer full of fresh strawberries, juicy watermelon, and sweet peaches, we're ready for the fall fruit harvest. Autumn brings an array of different ripe fruits, including oranges, apples, and pears. From sweet to savory, fall fruits add flavor, and when paired with other fall ingredients like cinnamon and apple cider, they can bring out the warm taste of the season.

The Cook editors at The Daily Meal always encourage you to eat with the seasons because that is when the fruits and vegetables are at their peak and have the most flavor. This week we put the Culinary Content Network and our staff to the test to come up with tasty fall fruit recipes that represent the season. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Jane Bruce, the Photo editor at The Daily Meal, used an array of different fall fruits for an easy sangria recipe, which is always an entertaining staple.
  • Lori Yates of Foxes Love Lemons pairs apples with caramelized fennel for a delicious savory quiche perfect for a meal anytime of the day.
  • The winner this week is Elsa Saatela, the Travel editor at The Daily Meal, who shares with us a moist and nutty cake recipe spiced with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg, which is a perfect way to use up ripe pears.

All of the recipes featured can be made at home for about $20 or less, excluding the cost of small amounts of basic ingredients such as butter, oil, flour, sugar, salt, pepper, and other dried herbs and spices.
