7 Beers To Try At The Great American Beer Festival

Beer lovers have already descended upon the Mile High City to get the party started for the 31st Great American Beer Festival — and to start tapping those 2,700 beers on offer. There's no shortage of craft beers at the festival, and while we can't walk you through all 2,700, we can tell you which ones are definitely worth the trip.

Denver Beer Company's Mayor Mike's 5280 Brew: Not only was the keg tapped to celebrate the beginning of GABF and the coinciding Denver Beer Week, Mayor Michael Hancock personally helped brew the pumpkin ale himself.

Wynkoop Brewing's Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout: Make sure to try this one, if only to say that you were brave enough to try a beer brewed with 25 pounds of the real Rocky Mountain oysters.

Saranac Brewery and Denver Beer Company's Continental Collide: The collaborative brew brings the best of both worlds: the Adirondack and Rocky Mountains. Enter the vermilion Rye IPA, made with Colorado honey and New York State hops.

Twisted Pine Brewing's Ghost Face Killah: The Boulder brewery is known for having the spiciest beer in the world; this year, the brewery will re-release the small batch for GABF.

Oskar Blues and Sun King Brewery's The Deuce: Another collaboration beer, this time with a Colorado favorite and an Indianapolis brewery. The Deuce is a "hopped up brown" ale.

Upslope Brewing and Euclid Hall's White ThaIPA: A curry-infused IPA? We're so in.

Breckenridge Brewery's Porter Pride: The special GABF brew, an imperial porter made with 200 pounds of dark chocolate, is only available to gold medal winners — sorry. Maybe bribe a winner to get a taste?
