5-8 Club

The Twin Cities are home to a cheeseburger that takes it to the next level: the Juicy Lucy. The burger has the cheese inside the actual patty instead of on top! Two restaurants on the same street in Minneapolis claim to have invented the caloric creation. At the 5-8 Club, old ads and movie posters cover the walls and guests have their choice of cheese (American, blue, pepper, or Swiss) to stuff inside their patty. Down the street at Matt's Bar, the patties are cooked on a small griddle behind the bar and stuffed with classic American cheese. 

Dusty's Bar

This local joint serves Hot Dagos, a popular Italian sandwich. The name of this beloved dish has a controversial background though, considering that the term "dagos" was once used as derogatory slang for Italian immigrants. "Dagos" is now primarily associated with this vTwin Cities' sandwich that consists of an Italian sausage patty covered (typically) in tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, all served on Italian bread. Dusty Bar is a popular spot serving different varieties of the sandwich.

Tavern on the Grand

Walleye, a fish from the region, is a seafood favorite in this area and can be served a variety of ways. A classic preparation of the fish is the fried walleye sandwich: fried walleye served with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce on a bun. Tavern on the Grand is famous for their walleye, and they serve the fish in a variety of ways, including grilled or pan-blackened.

Kramaczuk's

Considered a Minneapolis landmark, Kramaczuk's has been serving sausage and freshly baked bread to its customers for over 50 years. The restaurant offers ethnic foods, soups and salads, sandwiches, and desserts. The real star of the landmark is the sausage, which can be served on sandwiches or in dishes. It comes in over 30 varieties!

Haute Dish

Chef Landon Schoenefeld serves classics, like mac and cheese, but with a modern twist. Located in the warehouse district of Minneapolis, the popular restaurant has bar, brunch, and dinner menus, each filled with modernist takes on some of the Twin Cities' favorite comfort foods. The menu ranges from cheeseburgers to unique creations like the Reuben Benedict: corned beef with charred cabbage on a pumpernickel muffin and topped with Thousand Island hollandaise).
