The 3 Worst States For Celebrating New Year's Eve

It's no surprise to anyone that Florida truly is "The Worst State," but given Miami's reputation for serious nightlife, it may surprise you that Florida is also the most unfavorable state in which to celebrate New Year's Eve — at least for your wallet. The Tax Foundation reports on data collected by the Wine Institute that Florida, also known as the Police Blotter of America, has the highest taxes on champagne in the United States, coming in at a whopping $3.50 a gallon.

Alaska may be described as the Florida of the northwest, its bragging rights being limited to a plethora of gun racks, some terrifyingly barren landscapes, and an undersupply of natural teeth. The Turkey-Slaughterin' State also wants to tax your new year's party to the tune of $2.50 a gallon for bubbly.
The third-place least-New Year's Eve-friendly state is — surprisingly — Hawaii, which normally seems pretty gorgeous, gregarious, and covered in rainbows. At $2.12 a gallon, however, this state isn't exactly begging you to host your NYE party here.

On the other hand, Wisconsin wants you to forget the bitter, biting cold of a winter on the Great Lakes with the lowest tax rate in the States — a mere $0.25 per gallon. Cheers to America's Dairyland for letting us sip with impunity this New Year's Eve.
