Philly Shatters A Snowfall Record

For the first time in the city’s history, there were four 6+ inch snowfalls or more during the 2013-2014 winter season. In addition, with 67.4″ of snow during the 2013-2014 season, it’s the second snowiest winter ever here in Philadelphia.

Murder Spree In Montgomery County

Bradley Stone was accused of killing six people during the span of a few hours in Montgomery in December. The body of Stone was later found a short distance from his home. It is believed Stone took his own life.

The Pope Is Coming!

It was officially announced in November that Pope Francis will be coming to Philadelphia in September 2015 to attend the World Meeting Of Families. It will be Pope Francis’ first visit to the United States as Pope.

The Search For Eric Frein

Eric Frein is charged with fatally shooting one Pennsylvania State Trooper and wounding another in September. An intense manhunt of 48 days followed with him finally being captured inside an abandoned airplane hangar in November.

The Downfall Of Atlantic City

Four of Atlantic City’s 12 casinos closed this year in 2014. With increased competition from neighboring states, casinos are becoming an afterthought in Atlantic City and officials are trying to change that.

Tracy Morgan Seriously Injured In NJTP Crash

Actor Tracy Morgan was seriously injured in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in June that killed a fellow comedian. The driver, who was operating a truck for Wal-Mart, is accused of driving over the speed limit.

Woman Kidnapped Off Of Philly Street

A woman was kidnapped off of a Philadelphia street and the incident was captured on surveillance video. The victim was found several days later in Maryland and was eventually reunited with her family. The suspect, Delvin Barnes, is facing charges.

First Female Firefighter Killed In Line Of Duty In Philadelphia

Lieutenant Joyce Craig became the first female firefighter to be killed in the line of duty in the city’s history. Craig was killed during a house fire in West Oak Lane on December 9th.

Major Pile-Up On Pennsylvania Turnpike

Several separate crashes, that involved approximately 100 vehicles, shut down stretches of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Valentine’s Day. Nearly three dozen were injured.

Shocking Death Of Scotty McMillan

The mother of Scotty McMillian, and her boyfriend, are accused in his horrific death. Scotty McMillian, 3, was from Chester County.
