11 'Best Bars' Now James Beard Award Semifinalists

Earlier today, the James Beard Foundation announced the 2012 James Beard Award semifinalists in categories representing chefs, restaurants, and wine and bar programs. As was reported, New York City and Chicago dominated with a total of 22 (not counting regional chef nominations) and 17 semifinalists, respectfully.

While all of the nominees deserve a big round of applause, we'd like extend a special congratulations to the 11 semifinalists in the Outstanding Bar Program category who also made our list of the 150 Best Bars in America. 

That group includes: Anvil Bar & Refuge (Houston), The Aviary (Chicago), Clyde Common (Portland, Ore.), The Columbia Room (Washington, D.C.), Cure (New Orleans), Drink (Boston), The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co. (Philadelphia), Holeman & Finch Public House (Atlanta), PDT (New York City), PX (Alexandria, Va.), and The Violet Hour (Chicago).
