I used to work at anohter steak house across the street. The valet said that it was never busy there and it looked like it wasn't doing so well. I've had friends who have gone and said it was horribly overpriced. I'm genuinely shocked this is even on the list.
I was recently in Austin and had dinner at both Vince Young's restaurant and the Brazilian steak house across the street (Fogo De Chao). Both were good, but quite different. While Vince Young's was not completely filled, most tables were in use during the peak dinner period. Our food, while a bit pricey was excellent. The waiter was very good and made excellent food and drink selections. It was a better dining experience than I had expected, frankly. The Brazilian restaurant, while continually delivering meat until we could take no more was more of an exercise in gluttony than a fine dining experience. Price-wise is was at least comparable to Vince Young's, so I suspect both are par for the course in Austin.
Its unfortunate that people can't give an objective opinion without adding in their own stupidity. This article was about a restaurant not anything else dealing with Vince Young.
Can people write comments without adding chunks of hatred? There is no need for personal attack on the athletes. However, we can provide objective criticism on menu and services provided at the restaurants or business establishments owned by the athletes. It's baffling that people are writing irrelevant comments.
I live in Austin and I have eaten at this restaurant twice now. I eat at a lot of higher end steak houses. The food was acceptable. The service was HORRIBLE. Both times. I gave it a second chance. Service that time was just as bad. I can say that I won't be back to this one. I am scared to eat at the others on the list if this made the #1 spot.
When will you people wise up???? These guys don't do anything but put their name on something and collect a % of the profit. You act like Vince is in the kitchen inspecting the cuts of meat. This place is actually financed and run by people out of Houston and most of them have never been in the resturant business. Just trying to squeeze the last drops of profit out of an athlete's name while they can. I would bet it will last about as long as Vince did as a starting quarterback in the NFL unless Mack Brown treats the entire Longhorn team to steaks every week and all sports banquets are held there!! What a joke and a FACADE!!!! If Colt McCoy hadn't been injured and Texas beat Alabama for the National Championship this place would be called
"Colt's Steakhouse". By the way, what ever happened to Earl Campbell's BBQ?? Answer: Vince Young's Steakhouse!!! Total Joke!
Since I live in Austin, I thought I would try eating at Vince Young's steakhouse. I believe we gave it a fair shake...we had appetizers, main course, and dessert. The appetizers and dessert were okay and the main course was fair at best. Our bill was $500 for four of us. My bone-in ribeye for $42 was not worth it. The other three agreed. We also ordered other cuts of meat...the atmosphere was goofy...basically celebrating a football star who is mediocre at best now. I felt like I was eating in a dark cave. We will probably never go back to Vince Young's steak house.
I have eaten at this fine steakhouse and by your post I can tell you have not. There are five pictures in the entire restaurant that bares his name, and the restaurant is very big so five is not that many. It is by far the best steak in Austin.
Great job Vince Young putting your money to good use outside of football for your financail future. People stop hating on indivduals that try to do good for themeselves, if you wish you had the good fortunes of these people work harder. I am not a UT fan, though I am a former player and I do use my finance and accounting degree as I run my own business as a financial advisor. Good day!
I've bought a few packs of Vince's sausages at Kroger to throw on the pit awhile back and that was the worst mistake I ever made regarding food. Very plain and nasty. Maybe the restaurants better but I have a feeling it wont be. At least now he'll have time to correct it since Tennessee booted him. Gotta be a better cook than a QB...
A friend has been to Vince's restaurant and says the food is incredible but the service leaves something to be desired. Service can always be corrected if food is incredible and worth it.

GIVE ME A BREAK
Why was Johnny Unitas's Golden Arm restaurant near Baltimore not mentioned? I ate there several times many years ago and the food and atmosphere was great. And he was there frequently. He is certainly more famous than most of the individuals on your list. Or perhaps it is not there any more. Just wondering how you came up with your 10 best.
Though he now plays in the NFL, quarterback Vince Young remains king in Austin, Texas, for leading the Longhorn football team to the NCAA national championship in 2005. Last fall, he returned to his college stomping grounds to open his first restaurant downtown. The menu specializes in beef, from bacon and blue cheese bison sliders to locally sourced Texas prime grade steaks to a rich wagyu brisket burger balanced out by briny house-made pickles.
